This policy describes how TideStrike handles information used by the TideStrike app and related services.

Information TideStrike may collect

TideStrike may collect or store the following information when you use signed-in features:

  • Account identity, including email address and internal user identifiers.
  • Authentication state needed to keep you signed in.
  • Custom stations, favorites, and app preferences tied to your account.
  • Fishing Journal entries, including notes, timestamps, and selected coordinates.
  • Fishing Journal photos you choose to upload.
  • Location or selected coordinates when you choose location-based features.

How information is used

TideStrike uses this information to provide app functionality, including account access, station discovery, favorites, custom stations, Fishing Journal features, photo upload, and account deletion.

TideStrike does not use this information for third-party advertising tracking.

Location

TideStrike uses location only when requested by the user, such as finding nearby tide and weather stations or choosing a map location for a Fishing Journal entry or custom station. TideStrike does not use background location tracking.

Photos and journal content

Fishing Journal entries and photos are private user-owned content. TideStrike does not provide public posting, social sharing, searchable public galleries, or user-to-user photo browsing.

Journal photos are stored in private object storage and are accessed through short-lived URLs.

NOAA and NWS data

TideStrike may use public data services from NOAA, NOAA Tides and Currents, and NWS. TideStrike-generated processing, modeling, caching, or derived display formats may be based on those public data sources.

TideStrike is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, certified by, or approved by NOAA, NWS, the Department of Commerce, or any other government agency.

Signed-in users can initiate account and data deletion inside the app at Account and About TideStrike, then Account and Data Deletion.
